Travel Grants for Researchers
The Carmelitana Collection Travel Grant provides funds to defray travel costs for researchers who wish to visit the Collection in person. It is primarily meant for graduate students, early-career scholars, and other academics with contingent appointments, who may find additional funding helpful. The Grant partially covers grantees’ airfare and/or train fare only. However, room and board at Whitefriars Hall may be available to scholars who make a successful application free of charge for the duration of their stay. Lodging is not guaranteed, but successful applicants may wish to coordinate the dates of their visit around the availability of guest rooms at the Hall.
Typical grants will be awarded in the amount of $200–$300, until grant funds for the year are depleted. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible in order to guarantee the availability of funding. Applications will be reviewed on a quarterly, rolling basis. Grantees will be reimbursed for their travel expenses after the completion of their trip and the submission of their receipts.
For further information about the Grant, please contact Fr. Matthew J. Gummess, O. Carm. (mgummess@carmelites.net). To enquire about the availability of lodging at Whitefriars Hall, please contact the Prior, Fr. Nepi Willemsen, O. Carm. (nwillemsen@carmelites.net).
